Hello all! Greetings from Kombo, The Gambia. We have been in country for 5 days now and have started our intensive language and cultural training. We've visited a reptile park, the beach- BEAUTIFUL ps, and done only a little wandering-I'll be looking forward to more of that and chatting with people!
On friday, we all move to training villages- mine is called Kaifa and I will be learning Mandinka. The language is going okay, challenging, but I have great teachers!
Write me if you can, at my address. I'll get back to you- slowly :) Thank you to The Millars- my first letter was from you! Very exciting!

Care packages
- Please don't feel obligated to send anything, a few people have asked of some things I've been missing from home, so here are a few things that would be amazing to receive on monthly mail run:
- letters! pictures, newspaper clippings from home, funny stories or articles, magazines
- granola bars, cliff bars, pop tarts, protein bars, nutrigrain bars - these are great when I'm biking in the "bush"
- cheese- any kind that would send well like powered alfredo mix
- dried fruit- apples, berries, oh man, anything!
- beef jerkey, chicken or tuna packets - anything protein, also those 6-pack crackers- like cream cheese and chives, etc
- your thoughts and prayers!
- I hear padded envelopes may be slightly cheaper than boxes, also try to send AIR MAIL or it could take 4-6 months to get here. Lastly, just put something generic like "non perishable gifts" with a value under $50 on the declaration form. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!

Hi Mags! Congratulations on reaching your destination! Quite an accomplishment already. Our loss here in Sellersville is their gain in Gambia. Keep the vision and always remember we are only a distance in miles but not in hearts and love!
